Sugared Giraffes (Free verse) by Venus
Sugared giraffes and raw oysters consumed at random and the guy with the Big Boy tattoo was crying at the bar and I could see you Sticky, sweet tartar with capers rolled in deep like tiny gems and it was clear how we could all be famous if we tried harder and I could see you But at the sushi bar I felt raw on the half-shell and the bartender may have been right that the candy was too sweet to eat while drinking Fat Tire Did you see me? And the crying man turns out he was only crying because he had squeezed the lime juice into his eye after his shot of tequila And I was really only famous for a minute drinking some frozen mango concoction and watching Robot-Man earn his keep amusing the tourists on the mall they’re always so alarmed yet relieved to see him Did you see me? Are you still lost in that fantasy? It’ll be a new day tomorrow and It’s not likely you’ll find me

"curiously evocative"

Mmmm - evokes a feeling of consternation and unsettled bow'ls in me.
