Best Boy (Free verse) by MacFrantic
Credit him with reaching obscurity At the highest level Beneath a celebrated list of actors And pretenders Both of whom get the utmost recognition But don't Don't feel sorry for such a soul For what is the best boy If not a metaphor for us all? A dying dream of the hopeless artist The practiced religion of many a working man And I said, "Dude, shut up...I don't care about your philosophy on life." And he said, "Sor-ry for having an opinion, man." "Oh, by the way, do you want fries with that?"

Up the ladder: behind the banister

First verse is great. Might consider ending with it. I can definitely relate to this.
