You and I (Free verse) by Lifeboatman
Who would've thought that in the heart of this building Which accomodates a thousand people's desire, We would meet each other with a laughter and a tear You, the virgin mind incarnate And I, the ostentatious fool And how long had it been since we last met: A few days, a week, countless moments? And still you bestow on me that familiar smile Given only to those whose familiarity you had accepted And I bask in affection that can never be pretended I enjoy you amidst these displays of interaction And inspite of the crowd's doting steps and busy talks, I can still hear the forebearance of that pent-up sigh And that jump in your throat when you are amused I hope you are amused at me. I hope I am that laughter But I fear for you when you are not with me How much arrogance the world is feeding you I am afraid of the rashness of your inexperienced mind, Scared of imparting wisdom too late I fear for me when I am not with you How easy it is to lose you these days An ephemeral sunset just long enough for a quick glimpse And with an embrace, a smile and some tears, we part You, the virgin mind incarnate And I, at last, your father

Up the ladder: Background Noise
Down the ladder: Through the channel

This poem suffers from verbal dysenteria. Take two aspirins and shoot me in the morning.
