flying into the storm (Free verse) by herbgirlofbirkenau
i planted a garden of forget me nots i watered them when the weather was hot to make sure they didn't wither and die while the sun blazed its reflection in my eye i bought myself a jesus doll and hung it from the basement wall carving into it two by two my semi-precious vicious wishes vicarious but true i cocooned myself into a leaf unfolding in mystery and disbelief as the rain came crashing down trying to imprint me into the ground nature was fighting to win but that birthing force could never master my world of impeccable sin and i know it's all just a test to see who or what loves me the best and one day when the time is right i will witness my heart tearing bottom up into flight and when the hour presses start i will find the one who will refuse to depart he will know all of my ways and the earth will hear his silent praise the reasons why will all become clear redemption is here -subtle and near

I looked at my backside in the mirror: it was covered in prawns. When that happens you know it's time to put down the pogo stick and get the fuck out of Shrimpsville.

"In 1992, desperate to display its pro-business credentials, Labour launched the 'prawn cocktail offensive' to win hearts and minds in the City.

That old Tory warhorse Michael Heseltine realised it was doomed to failure.

'All those prawn cocktails for nothing,' he sneered. 'Never have so many crustaceans died in vain.'"
