me. (Free verse) by opiate
A dead tree in the heart of a vast barren desert, inside the hollow trunk a spider spins layers upon layers of web -each intertwined with the other. Thousands of insects caught between the webs. Some whole, some half-eaten. there in the heart of the desert, there in the hollow tree trunk, there caught in spider webs, there amidst the insects, there i'm stuck, there, you'll find me. Do you have what it takes? To reach out and help me.

Up the ladder: death warmed over
Down the ladder: don't feel

Is this a nightmare or a bad LSD trip? Then again, I remember the time I was caught in a spiderweb in the heart of the desert in a hollow tree trunk. I was in Las Vegas and they gave me some sort of weird concoction to drink and when I woke up I was out in the Nevada desert. Sound familiar?

I think you'll find the question is: Do you have what it takes to be worth helping?
