Lake Pyramid's Secret (Free verse) by Bachus

Playing hooky from school in Reno It's a hell of a haul to get out there, but worth the schlep. Because, behind those pyramids bubble the hot springs. Where local college sororities do 'most' of their 'specialized' rituals amidst those steaming pools & and sulphur coated shrubs, rocks, and bird's-nests. We would pass off that we were local boys (My friend Tony was Indian), and though only in 7th. grade. We all had very clear ideas about what we were doing there. Getting familiar with Eve. Watching, waiting, learning. I have never fallen in love so repeatedly any-where else, since, but I have loved some of the best, and all of the worst Instincually accident prone. I guess I'm afraid to be alone. A few times I got lucky out there. A very lustfully arousing young lady would insist I cop a feel, and I felt, and I felt, until I discovered that place. Between everything, To climb back into. When I could not deal with whatever I imagined was worth escaping. Pandora's box is sideless. I imagined too much. I wonder now, where I am, as I sit. If maybe, I could go back there and drown- rinse-burn that familiarity off of me, once, and for all.
