Decks of Cards (So Long to the City) (Lyric) by wilco

On a Greyhound bus to the ocean; Taking the long way to ride and I've been waiting for a lifetime for something to wake me up inside. There's a thousand reasons not to stay here, and no excuses to remain. Grown tired of bars and decks of cards, and I know that it's the only way. Chorus: So long to the city I have known for ten long years, lord knows I've tried. And so long to the woman I love. There's no better way to say goodbye. This interstate is windin' through the heartland One more mile away from broken dreams. It never seems fair to have to leave your lover, but the southern way's the way it's got to be. A lonesome wind is blowin' through the willows and I never knew it'd be as bad as this. My guitars lost its sweet, sweet country feeling and all I want is your pretty mouth to kiss. So long to the city I have known for ten long years, lord knows I've tried. And so long to the woman I love. There's no better way to say goodbye.

I've read several of yours and you are pretty good at writing lyrics. The biggest problem I've seen with some of them is the structure. That's pretty easily fixed though, when you put the words to music. It's all about editing when you get to that stage. You can tell the ones of mine that I wrote with a guitar and the ones I wrote...just writing. The ones I wrote w/o using a guitar don't flow nearly as well.

As far as the lyrics go though, not too shabby.
