okay, new anonymous IPs, ie, people seeing poemranker.com for the first time, are served up not a random crap poem but one from the best 50 so that they are impressed with our awesome poetry.

The best 50 contains very few of the best 50 poems on this site due to a distorted voting system in which Rockmage and Shuusin have the most poems. We do not want people to be put off forever by believeing that the majority of people on this website appreciate the trite toss that these fools generate and term "poetry".

"trite toss"? I can't believe you'd pick on Rockmage like that! Perhaps if more of these top twenty were about "buttocks", or um - "naughty bits" you would appreciate them more...
I can't be bothered to login to respond to you. However I would like to assert that the only poetry on this site vaguely worth reading is that which is vulgar. If one were to judge this website purely on the humourless, quasi political disjointed mess that a number of poets on this website seem enthrapped in then the users would consist of CLS and Rockmage.
As it stands the top 20 does not feature any "good" poetry such as "the blooding" by Mr Pig, instead it has a preponderence of Horus8's many charecters whom he has voted to the top by himself. Ergo my point about the voting system being naff. I suggest you spend less time voting yourself to the top20 and more time fisting your puckered mother's anus.

(which is rather good)
thanks for the kudos - no worries, eventually some thinly penised fucker, or some thinly penised fucker's thinly penised little brother will pile on low marks just because, well, they are thinly penised little fuckers (and I speak not of my top 20 brethren, btw).
And verily, they will giggle at the cleverness of what they do, or the self-righteous bile will rise up in them and they will feel justified in their holy war against the vile opression of the obviously underserving poets who tower above them. Its a cycle, and it's completely predictable - very much consistent with the psychology of any organization ... Ask any specialist adviser to a growing business.

What about an "add an alias" link on the profile pages (next to the "ips by user" link, maybe) that allows users to post likely aliases onto other people's profiles? Ie, if I notice that <{Baba^Yaga}>'s style and ips are pretty close to Bacchus' and horus', then I can add them to her profile.
Maybe the ranker could check against their ips list before making the post permanent. And there could be some kind of an appeals process for wrongful accusations - a tribunal of some sort, I don't know. Anyway, that would get around the problem of some people overlapping ips (unless god'swife really is all those people her ips list says she is,) and there could be a one-vote-per-group-of-associated-aliases rule. A powerful tool, maybe... Or a terrible weapon in the wrong hands? ... I mean it's cool you want to make this a better place, but too complicated I think, Zodiac. Bottom line is that some people just suck. They don't vote on the merrit of the poem; they vote based on politics, jealousy, just to be fuckwads - that kind of thing. I said *some* people. (and don't believe everything you read in profiles...)

Problem: sometimes, more users than one use the same computer and end up with the same IP. Or, for that matter, sometimes one IP somehow ends up being used for two different users even if they don't share a computer (speaking from experience).
IP-ban people who vote under more than one username and delete the users.
There would be just the two of us left...
