Before Existence (Free verse) by Jsylum
Silent as the hills
as from the time where hills exist
not in my soul but in the world,
before my eyes could see, or I could feel.
Silent as the songs that never were,
from days that had gone by in a whirl,
as fast as the thoughts that travel through
my lonely mind to become all I thought was real.
Lonely as the northern star
before man had put forth his soul afar
to count the lights and notice too
the glittering millions in the blue.
Lonely as the first rays on the sea
when morning light wake nobody,
when branches in the swaying wind
play shadows untouched by human whim.
Untouched as the pristine snow
that I thought had covered heaven,
Untouched as dreams untold
Nestled in sleep's Dream Kingdom.
Untouched was humanity's deepest sorrows
of love undone and pain tenfold,
of dull tear-filled tomorrows
where dreams would fade and terror grow.
Fade as the world fades now,
rushing past the requiem, silence bows.
In between eternal time
We come to exist for a moment's show,
Before and after existence is
just another dream that ebb and flow,
unknown, unseen, unfelt, until
we think to see and learn to feel.
