The Stranger from Mars (Free verse) by venusdemilo
Familiar but boring
Scary but wanted
You the stranger
Me the inhabitant
Your love is different
From any kind here
You must be from somewhere
Far away.
Somewhere like Mars.
Where people, different people
Turn whole towns upside down
With a smile and a slang
Like for occupations
You love people, me, to make money
You meet my parents for a bonus
And you steal my heart as a benefit
How many benefits do you have in your pocket?
As you drive into the sun
Without really saying goodbye
After you tell my neighbors you'll be back
For some more good home cooking
I know you'll never be back
We were an assignment.
And we pick up our lives
Where we left them before you came.
Like tornado victims,
We search for your possesions...
For ourselves.
You made us think.
You made me believe in something better.
In Mars.
