The Bored Housewife (Free verse) by Caducus
Going through the motions every Friday, Seduction is a futile attempt, I can transform his face into the one that got away, I can scream at the required pitch of satisfaction, Then smile at him to cosset his ego, Men are carnivorous voyeurs when it comes to reaction. He will sleep in the cot of my bosom now, And will moan if I move him away, I lay awake thinking yesterday’s thoughts, Knowing consequences are more frightening with age. Men live with habitual predictability, Inherited by lazy Fathers and Old wives tales, He will set the table as his mother did, A conserve of rasberry jam and silver condiments, Meticulous in presentation but never used, Its to show the guests we are the American dream. But most things are not how they seem. If your afraid of loneliness don’t marry, I laughed at that saying as a teen. So I know I will leave him when the children grow up, Bittersweet situation watching them grow, but waiting, So I will throw away my watch and live by routine, And pay my allegiance to the American dream, Be the cleaner, the cook, the wife, And the arm ornament who scrubs up okay, This is my life everyday. ============================ (posted for a mucker of mine) =============================
