Madison's Mom (Free verse) by RWAndersen
Let me tell you what my father said, When life slaps you upside the head, Whether it's broke, tore, gone or dead, Get your little ass up, and out of bed, Cuz it's you that'll get it, if you want to get fed. I know it's suxs, but that's what he said. What you've been dealt, most will ne'er know, In life's hard knocks, it's biggest blow. If ones not seen, how can they show? Get your little ass up, and out of bed, Cuz it's you that'll do it, in the light up ahead. I know it suxs, it's your row to hoe. All you've done's been watched by a crowd, And after it all, you've done made'm proud. Now your babe, smiles down from a cloud. Get your little ass up, And out of bed, Cuz it's you that'll show it, she lives on in our heads. I know it suxs, can't shine in a shroud. There are those who will look to you, When they're slapped, it'll happen too, For the path they've seen others use. Get your little ass up, and out of bed, Cuz it's you that'll be it, this time you can't be led. I know it suxs, but you have the clue Now, here today, those words replay, It's me to you, things I must say, Say them I will, in his unique way, Get your little ass up, and out of bed, Cuz it's you gotta do it, don't wish for an instead. I know it suxs, begin from today.
