rememberance of things past (Free verse) by keatsImnot
Oh faded glory, tattered flag
So long the leader, now the lag
Not long ago you showed the World
You led them all with flag unfurled
With moral strong, you lit the way
But as the dog, you've had your day
Too long you wollowed in your past
And like the hare you've come in last
You strode ahead then took a rest
You fell asleep, came second best
The greatest Empire ever seen
Has vanished, was it all a dream?.
When did that bulldog spirit part
Stiff upperlip, the lionheart
Evaporated in the night
Into the ether, lost to sight
I wish we could regain some pride
Once were warriors, now we hide.
