I'll Miss You (Free verse) by Eric Johnson
2/12/01 - Almost Valentine's day
Does she ever, hear that song, and long to listen to my voice,
When the birds, sing from above, does she ever relive that choice?
I find myself in love with what, I longed to get away from,
And now I see, I'm there again, bound, by my own freedom.
But now, it's more than me, there will always be that little one,
Who never will, fully understand, why daddy cries with setting sun.
And as the stars, begin to shimmer, exhuberant from glowing day,
I'll stare into, the moon's dull whispers, and hope for some new way.
To fall asleep, in memory, and relive those joyous times of yore,
When I was young, and in the middle, and always wondered what was in
store.
Oh Lord, I'm sad, and yet I'm shining, I've grown to hate this game of
love,
And yet when I, stare at the stars, I can't help but rise above.
The hate that lives, and thrives on stress, caused by my own daily
chores,
Perpetuated, by desire, and the continuing need, to have much more.
Lord I ask, that you bless, those I seem, to have left behind,
and ask that you, offer the chance, to give them peace of mind.
For it is not my own, heart that longs, to be unburdoned from that
lonesome chain,
But it is my heart, my very own, that hopes each day, that they'll
remain.
My selfish desires, and inconveniences, further ask them to remain a
part of me,
Almost as if, each day I fear, that they will vanish when they finally
see.
That I am human, and borne with fault, and I'm further taut by my
emotion,
I hate to leave, and love to stay, with those that have earned my blind
devotion.
And yet I'll vanish, without a trace, citing my own, personal issues,
When I really, want to love you, and tell each of you, I'll Miss You.
