your voice soothes me in the dark (Free verse) by rockinindividual
your voice soothes me in the dark as you speak of brightly lit fields and the stars above all the commotion my blankets weigh me down warming me your voice whispers jokes and stories that make me laugh sleepily my eyes closed the phone slipping from my hand im not wearing my watch tonight but when i roll over the clock reads 12:10 in harsh red robot letters i groan and close my eyes burying under the covers until once again all is quiet except for your voice singing your own songs speaking randomly knowing im still there on the other end my mind slowly realizes the fact that there are exams tomorrow today an alarm begins to go off in my head voices are about to scream at me but i roll over and tune them out because im too comfortable too happy to care its only when you decide you have to go that my fingers lose their grasp and the phone falls onto my mattress fumbling i pick it up only to hear you whisper "i love youuuu..." before i hear the dialtone ringing harshly in my soft blurred world...
