the feeling was never there (Free verse) by blackball
i looked toward the sun soaked sky waiting for you to come home with bad news i shuddered, standing alone in a defunct cabin that was bordered by a lake an island, blanketed with human feet, strands of grass and love hoping that you might never have to come back praying for a moment in time where you might be belligerent to the awful truth realizing that the black-red sky was leading you home to an empty bed empty besides me empty because when i told you i loved you, i lied
