Sanity's Defeat (Free verse) by loneshadow29
A lonely man Standing wearily Defeat in his eyes Losing his lowly war Voices from within Echoing harsh words At first like a whisper Then slowly growing Louder and louder Until not one thought Can be heard over the roar Of Laughter so cold "Why would they have you? How could they ever care for such a pathetic being" Falling to his knees Realizing the truth inside that no person in this world could ever begin to love such a lowly creature hands covering his face as he weeps silent tears wishing for comfort someone who could help him take away the pain inside but he knows he is alone all that surrounds him is the lonely darkness as the night falls all that can be heard are cries of heartache wishing for an angel the angel of death to please release him of the pain and sorrow bring him home but no answer can be heard maybe one day he will find peace one day
