One Angel Too Many (Free verse) by Queen_Sway
As you were in Heaven, one angel too many. Life was but an aching inside your mind. The littlest prick on your finger from a rose of white. White roses are a sign of love everlasting, You reached out for life and felt it casting its warm sunlight upon your soul. Around your body the roses grow, in a frenzy of love.... A single drop of blood on your finger mixed and mingled with the rain and deeper and heavier it fell from the sky overhead... the clouds became darker and your soul it bled. Such pain life has given you. As you sit in the corner, hugging your knees, you cry and ponder, "What have I done to deserve this?" You've done nothing wrong... don't you see? The world doesn't know how to treat an angel. The ones you loved the most in your life, left with the wind...didn't say goodbye. Like losing a love in the midst of a fight, how do you say goodbye to the love of your life? At last, dear child. Your time had come to approach heaven's gates and receive the love that neglected you all throughout your life. It was your time now, no devils in sight. But while you are the next in line, you looked around for the divine angels that would guide you and take your hand.... you couldn't find any, they had all gone... only a note that said... "One angel too many." When life discards you and Heaven leaves you behind... When love leaves you without saying goodbye, When your angels fade away from your side... Just say my name and your tears I will dry. No matter what love has done to you, you'll be safe from harm. Whether you have a thousand angels...or don't have any... in my arms, you will never be one angel too many.
