No where is it seen, the old ways kept
meticulously inside muscles
Kurt held and held all he wanted
Sara held and held all she wanted
to the treasure, the gold, the green growing
tree planted long ago with careful
compost, deteriorating nutrients,
end become end
The tree is across the street. Ribbons
and roses and spirit houses around it,
the tamarind tree roots pushed up the sidewalk even,
now uneven, now even, dug out
excavation of those roots.
