On the death of my Grandmother (Free verse) by BEBO
Doctors, Nurses, Final inspections No more injections Thousand mile an hour Flash recollections And so Letting Go Familys gather Grieve together Funeral directors Sombre efficiency Book the date Choose a time Phone those who were there Along the line Cancel the electric Stop the Pension Make sure the paper gives A mension They collect The body Respectfully Get sandwiches Ready for after During which theres Surprisingly, sometimes Laughter "it was right" "she is free from pain" "she had cancer" "She was old" And yet now for me There is no-one To hold But you are not gone Not left behind I am just tucking you in To sleep in my mind.
