Now What Am I Supposed To Think About Love? (Free verse) by capachijim
now that you put me in it
got me in sync wit it
there's a thing or two I guess I learned
about love.
determined to get it,
but neva sweat it
stayin' it and keepin' it,
waitin till we touchin it (da sky).
but the thought, I neva shakin it' (aside).
runnin', turnin', gun jumpin',
aimin', gamin', slick insanin'
for you, LOVE
but once I thought you in my grasp,
them doors they smash
cold shut.
then from that high down to that low.
fire to ash
it aint enuff.
the times i felt so high
the times i felt it so right
the times, the times,
I was so wrong
The times I tried to be so strong
I'm told you're good
and I'm told you're wise,
tho you sometimes come in a disguise
but what I've learned and what I've seen
makes me believe
a new song.
something just had
to be wrong.
so now, tell me,
what am I supposed to think
about LOVE.
you say you wouldn't do me wrong,
and promised me you'd be life long.
So back up.
don't make them fresh promises
to hold up
my head so high
to make me feel
sprung off
a pretentious high,
a feelin' that's juss gonna die
I'm tired of crashin', rehashin',
delegatin' comiseratin' and wall smashin'.
so spare me the shit that "love is blind"
"It's the thing that you can't go and find."
Tell me how it's hard
Tell me how it hurts,
Whether it's baggy jeans or thigh-high skirts.
Same stuff,
Same game,
Same way I eventually came.
now that you put me in it
got me in sync wit it
there's a thing or two I guess I learned
about love.
It's hard and it's rough,
and I've had enough.
But knowin' and livin'
are two different cases.
the difference of foldin'
and throwin' out aces.
I can know it's a heartache,
and know it's a game.
But I know Ima b playin' it
Juss the same.
