Just Before My Shift Ends at The Uptowner (Free verse) by jessicazee
The beer I spill bubbles
like hydrogen peroxide on the dirty wooden bar.
See that? That beer I spilled? Thatâs alcohol abuse.
I wonât charge you for that.
If you spill a cocked dice again you will buy the bar.
Itâs all in the wrist, okay! Fives
Still alive, we both have a horse.
I have four fours all day.
Ooh, too bad, you pay.
Two songs into Carol Kingâs Tapestry and someone plays the jukebox.
I slip the hundreds and fifties under the coin drawer,
Take a shot of Jameson to punch out,
Your turn, Iâll get you ice, do dishes, leave you a line.
