A Light in the Dark (Other) by Verse2Verse
Just like the summers I felt as a child
With you it's so warm and so safe
Come now, together we'll make it, babe
We'll leave this terrible place.
Because the hating inside it is growing
The violence and pain, it can't hide
So dark is this world, but it shows me
I can make it with you by my side.
And the flames that I see, burn with liars
Searing everything down to the bone
They sure don't care a thing about ours
I think it's time that we go.
When we sing together, we're stronger
We can walk any road in this land
It's this place I can't take any longer, babe
Somehow it's hard just to stand.
Just when you think you're above it
The news, it comes tumbling down
The one thing that you had no grudge with
Is now spreading all over town.
Still, it's hard not to close up inside
While defending away all the darkness
When you're told all your theories are bold lies
And the enemy within here is heartless.
I'll say with you, I sure have a shot here
I'll be able to walk calm and true
Even if only for a brief moment
To me a moment would do.
I know the world won't ever recede back
Into the greatness it once should've been
I guess there's no fault, in the long run
I'll save my blame until then.
