Showtime (Free verse) by INTRANSIT
Never underestimate the power of God.
For forty-five minutes we watched his
white veins flash across the sky, beer
in our hands, as he stumbled drunk around his
penthouse apartment looking for a contact,
crashing into everything. A cricket
plugged in then tried to discharge itself.
Frogs laughed, Cicadas anguished. Fireflies
lit like random lighters . The wind
sometimes howled and the trees applauded.
All the while, God never made a sound.
For forty-five minutes we watched this.
We should have stayed up with him.
But we didn't.
