Walking Out (Free verse) by NoSage
How do you help someone
Find their way through the moonless night.
I've been there before,
Doing what I can to get another bag.
I know where the pitfalls were for me,
But that doesn't make it right.
Still, I hate to see another wasted life
Especially one as beautiful as yours.
If I held your hand, and we both walked blind
Unseeing in the depth of night,
Perhaps we would fall before we found the dawn,
But at least it's worth a try.
It's not an easy path, I'll be honest about that.
But before our trip is through
You'll know who your friend are,
Or at least which ones were true.
