broken pieces of a candy heart (Free verse) by brazen
lifting shadows off a dream
i awaken without your breath
stealing kisses from memories
and swiping time from death.
four pillows are still adorned
to the shivering side of my bed
a monument to untold bliss
a bag of feathers engaged in red.
and while the silence in the morning air
provokes an anguish most au contraire
i'll take a smile of any degree
just to maintain my sanity
though i know its lost beneath a fist
still clenched tight to a limp wrist
and two lips drowned in a river of tears
with two eyes too dryed to leer.
last night i was your necromantic
St. Valentine's mock turtle dove
proving that digging up the past
is no way to show undying love.
