Nightmares Of Yesterday (Free verse) by Zalev
Hello memories,
did you come back to taunt me?
To depress and to haunt me?
Haven't you caused enough pain?
Stop reminding me how I was the blame.
I just had a few beers that day,
mom said I was drunk, and that I should stay.
I was too stubborn and didn't care,
wife and son were both so scared.
Damn you memories,
why must you make it clear?
I see myself now trying to steer.
The car came crashing into a spin,
please stop the madness, please stop my sin.
Oh, memories please go away,
I don't want to remember that awful day.
My wife and son did not make it,
I see them dead I can not take it.
I hear their voices crystal clear,
I should be dead, should not be here.
I don't deserve this meaningless life,
not without my son and wife.
My body trembles, I'm filled with chills,
I will not take these prescribed pills.
I will just lay here and waste away,
into my nightmares of yesterday.
Goodbye memories,
tomorrow you will taunt me,
you will depress,
and forever haunt me.
