staring contest (Free verse) by FreeFormFixation
The red water filled up your eyes as you unhinged your jaw and the moon rolled inside. As nighttime left the sky and sank into your stomach, i started to wonder why daylight had yet to resume its place on the horizon's precipice. Just now, though, i remember cursing out loud when a whisp of black dripped out of your nose and sizzled as it plopped to the ground in a steamy cloud. It was because then I realized we have death hanging over us all the time and the lack of gravity keeps the black acid away from us in a liquidy shell. And those red eyes tried to feign reflection of the sunrise, but to no avail. I remember picking out a supposed sun spot as just a chunk of crust from a restless night's sleep. You're something else, you know that? All black satin and no silver specks, you would think interrupting the fabric from time to time would seem like common sense.
