a night of solitude (Free verse) by Faulk
Clouds
Brighter as I look west
Orange rays of radiance smeared across the heavenly ceiling
A loon cries softly in the distance
Calling sadly for its lost mate
As the breeze causes the leaves above me to stir, I look up
Green everywhere
I can feel it all around me
Life, spirit, peace
The totality of the silence beats down on my ears like no noise has ever
done
Completely alone, and happy
I stand and slowly brush the dirt from my pants
I unzip my tent, all is black
The quite tranquility lulls me into a slight slumber
The loon cries once more, but this time quieter
The sound fades slowly away
All is peaceful
Sleep
