Tale of a mermaid (Sonnet) by sanity
How long I have wished that I could return
To the briny depths that was once my home
Although I knew all my bridges I'd burn
That chance I took, leaving behind that foam
It was alas for my obsessive heart
That I did choose this impassable path
But now my love has preferred to depart
I must now endure my family's wrath
I can hear them laughing, chanting, taunting
Swimming after me, that night long ago
Forever hearing, their words just haunting
But I didn't care, my heart was aglow
Now all I do is sit here and wonder
I miss my life in the wet blue yonder
