Lips no longer innocent (Free verse) by tre
Two bodies twisted together
Tangled arms and legs
Soft lips touch, tender at first.
Pressure builds, domineering and persistent,
unyielding to the subtle attempts at pulling away.
Lips no longer innocent,
now punctured and wounded.
Ignoring the taste of blood
for one more moment of forbidden pleasure.
A half-hearted apology mixed with nonchalance.
A small smile of pride?
To mark one's woman in a place where everyone will see.
Only, I'm not your woman.
Nowhere to hide, no way to disguise.
Tinted lip gloss cover up.
Is it dark velvet or blackberry jam?
Clinique doesn't make this color.
Two eyes wide with oblivion.
Two eyes burning through the purple concoction,
straight through to a guilty conscience.
Where did it come from?
Ran into a wall?
Bit it in the middle of the night?
Pretend it doesn't exist?
Hanging in the air like a paper moon.
Silence weighs heavy, can cut it with a knife.
Denial thickens.
Denying the night my lips lost their innocence.
No words can express
You can't hide a bruised lip.
