To Be Happy (Free verse) by embersandenvelopes
You uncovered my notes that connected the years with barely thought out phrases and polar-fickle-phases. I held myself in with my eyes while your fingers tore, telling me that I'm too destructive to ever be happy. I heard that Truth is Beauty and Beauty is Truth. The set of your mouth is ugly but now I'm beautiful to you. My memories, reduced, don't reside at your distaste. I'm too destructive to be happy but I'm too impatient to wait.

Up the ladder: Drowsy
Down the ladder: How to Bleed

"My memories, reduced, don't reside at your distaste." - Do you have any idea what this means?

I should hope so, considering I wrote it. Let me clarify for you

"memories" is referring to the notes from the first line. I have this box of old letters, notes, pictures, etc- it's called my Memory Box. The other person in the poem tore these notes up, reducing them to shreds, which is where the "reduced" part comes in. "Distaste" refers to his displeasure.
Basically I'm saying that even though he physically tore the notes up, which were representations of my memories, he couldn't destroy the memories themselves and he wasn't entitled to keep control of them simply because he took out his emotions on them.

Nope.
You haven't explained anything. The part of the sentence that doesn't make any sense is how a memory could "reside" at someone's distate. Even writing those words makes me feel soiled.

I liked polar-fickle-phases, and liked trying to figure out what it means.
