highway (Free verse) by sarah
she got me started like i was a car you know? ignition in. go! switching gears like i have time for her attempt to infect me with fear. pah - leez. no. so i returned her call eloquently speaking in fact expressing i inventoried each factor in evidence, i wanted to get this shit over with i ran through the list in a self-assured way my manner was a matter of fact my finish was like screeching into park perfectly you know - like they do in the movies? telling her never to call me again unless the call was conveying an apology she got me going like i was a lamborghini i was flying down the highway my release was amazing my delivery was astounding i could feel the truth resounding beautiful. man... sometimes a person comes out of nowhere i don't know why i gotta figure from whom but for some reason when i've needed release most some complete idiot is delivered into my hands they push the precisely perfect buttons born of ignorance to pseudo-somatically persecute me somehow in so doing i have discovered they were a gift though, see? i face up to an affront where i know i'm the virtuous one and am attacked (so-to-speak), i proceed to pummel with purity, with politeness even, sure - i turn the other cheek, but in the midst of all that i must deliver a righteous speech. winning respect, even better: winning self respect via self-expression not holding back ... yeah. so that's that.
