Summer Son (Free verse) by Frass
On Ryan's birthday celebration
two months to the day
that is
we frolicked in October's indian summer
he, in blue
we, too
for we wouldn't want to upset his majesty's
propitious sense of coloration
Folks blew bubbles in the wind
we drank suds from tins
and Ryan added his own glistening globes
onto his chin
well nigh on the high end of summer
we rejoiced.
