Life (Free verse) by NobodysSon
Here among thorns and strangers, Roaming empty halls of stone, They steal my charms and magicks As fast as I can cast them. A life time of tricks learned To hide from myself Are stripped away by dizzying, horrifying, demented REALITY. An ancient numbing poison, Tested over vast slow eons, Drags me down into closed dark spaces Where long forgotten titans lie, Shifting in this ultimate gloom, Their sighs told and retold By those that put us here In a macabre mimicry Of things once held light and dear. They smother me with my greatest fear- Life.

Up the ladder: I heart you
Down the ladder: Waffleman

I'm thinking this works, but I almost got tripped up about 2/3rds way in; maybe could be trimmed a bit?

I really wish it was something beside the word LIFE at the end.
