Damn Georgia Power (Free verse) by BrandonW
Lost in reflection; he forgot about the burning candle In his hand, and the sudden sting of melting wax served As his reminder. Lost in introspection; 'Ouch!' was only a reflex Of the mouth, for physical pain was much a part Of his forte. Fumbling with discovery; he sat wishing Georgia Power would get on the ball and fix This outage. For no brownout; can stop the flowing-- Electrical current of guilt or the visceral Ache which accompanies it. Flickety click; quick as that lights And applicances come back to life - while eyes squint, For they have not yet adjusted. And nor has he.

Down the ladder: despaired old age
