Habits (Free verse) by Dean42
Habits hardend by swift practice happy on full stomachs and hot water sweet smell of created dreams and cleaning soaps no devils to thrust soiled lives under feet and greedy screams yelling for more ever demanding roles pressed shirts and smelly ties caught upon wishful drinks hearty laughs and boyish banter rush for hospital doors and lucrative pension rights happy talk of things not there only dreamed of and bought the quick killing made greasy hands beckon the garage for applause waits for painted numbers jump into soft folds of comfort tear down a few unwanted needs.

Up the ladder: The Cereal Killer Blues
Down the ladder: father
