Tomorrow (Free verse) by sykes
Tomorrow is Christmas but its just not the same There’s one less place at the table, one less stocking to hang One less voice filled with laughter and one less heart full of cheer One more reason why Christmas is different this year Still I try to be happy; I try to smile through my tears As I remember the good times that we shared through the years But the holiday spirit seems to have gone with the wind And I find myself impatiently awaiting its end I still recall how you left with such humble submission To your divine appointment upon God’s gracious admission The paradox of my words is that my fury still fades When I picture you in heaven with a smile on your face Because I know that you’re happy and you’re finally free And you’re spending eternity in such heavenly peace So many questions still linger but one truth still remains You found the answer at last; you found release from your pain The reason behind your departure I’ll forever inquire But somehow I believe that God’s intentions were higher Today I organize the thoughts that are defining my sorrow But I know I’ll put on a smile to hide my heartache tomorrow I wish we had one more tomorrow so we could spend it together But I know that one day we’ll celebrate it forever But heaven knows no tomorrows, no years, or decades So I guess in your eyes I’ll see you later today So until my light here is spent or until the return of the King Please don’t forget to tell Jesus happy birthday for me

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death.
Where, O Death, are your plagues? Where O grave is your destruction?
Hosea 13:14

your intentions are the highest, but your poetry unfortunately is lacking. More righteousness, less prettiness. Go for the jugular. That's what Jesus did.

This is good one hell of a drama on a Christmas eve but nevertheless poignant.
