we can't walk forever (Free verse) by somemorepoetry
And we walk down the road The same road we always walk down Every time we get bored By the inside of your apartment The cracks in the disjointed concrete Have sunk into my mind I've come to know That there is always an empty can Of Pap's Blue Ribbon Sitting on the crate Around the corner Beside the garbage can Leaning against the Baked-brick exterior of Lenny's Diner We circle past the abandoned high school Where the drug dealers live And pass by Lenny's And tiptoe betwen the cracks And walk up the steps To your apartment Soon enough we'll turn around We'll walk down the road again We might stop at Lenny's So you can smoke While I grab a milkshake But eventually we will have to go back We can't walk forever
