A Civil Saving Strain (Free verse) by Enkidu
To put it as simple
As humanly possible
Blunt even
The envelope has been pushed
Shoved, strangled, crushed
And erased from memory
This is
The last line
Defense or no
Our day has come
And this is the last
If only abrupt
end
All of the death
The pain
And this is the last
One final strain
Between that upmost line
Is a curious circumstance
For life
Not for humanity
Gone is the wind
Alone
And lo our brightest day
Shining before eradication
One day in circular time
Has removed itself from history
Forever a birth now withstanding
None will change us more
Than that civil right
When upon our greatest defeat
Mankind has impaled itself
Only to be saved
That impossibility
A savior
However regarded
And we shall never know the truth
