Cornerstone (Free verse) by darkshark
Kiss me once but lightly I have no time to linger here With the cool, thick mountain air Passing through my mind I’ll see you again On the other side Where the greenery is less green The springs a bit less fresh Yet there we will build a new home We will place a brick, a cornerstone Smile and be glad There’s nothing more that can be done By the hands of one lone man Kiss me once but lightly There are many miles left to spare My feet wonder like a Pilgrim My hands shake like a drunken man The frost is biting carefully at the corners of my eyes Leaving behind nothing but the pain of nature’s lies Sometime I will reach the mountain’s other side And there in the shadow of the rising sun We will lay down a brick and raise up a home

Up the ladder: solid to fall aparty
Down the ladder: Your Turn (revised)
