Preacher Man (Free verse) by masticatedmess
He stood at the corner screeching As I juggled my bags of cans. He said that I was going to hell. He said Jesus was his man. I gave my tobacco one last chew, Swallowed the spit as I always do, Took the used up wad in hand, And flung the masticated mess at him.

Down the ladder: sick and demented

too easy, this one. And you should not masticate, it is against God's law, and you will be blinded.

blessed with a 1.

It's not an "inside joke". It's an extremely common, obvious and tedious piece of wordplay.
