Why am I here? (Free verse) by harrytuttle
Why am I here? I am here because I didn't take action. I am here because I let the sunny days pass me by, And didn't run, laughing, from the building, And sat, instead, in a sterile, climate-controlled room, Staring, stupidly, at a glowing monitor, too much, Instead of jumping up, rolling, tumbling, Down a grass covered slope In an open meadow Under a perfect blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds, Not enough. That's why I am here.

Up the ladder: The End

How depressing man. But it works to a certain extent.

No this isn't the one I was speaking of. I hadn't read this. Again the insid eoutside comparison is a bit too predictable, but you handle the inside very well. And the image of a men in tie & trousers rolling down a grassy slope is wonderful. My boyfriends an engineer at a giant defense company. the first thing he does when he leaves the building is take off his shirt and tie and walk to his car bare chested.
