Inquire Within (Free verse) by jessicazee
A question, the mark of it, Broad, minute, extreme, bullied. The first one you ever asked. Me, Can me? Mama? Doggie? Me? Why that? Who that? Up? Wet? Where you? Older, an asking, salt, please? Gum? Bathroom? How far until we get there. Where Is Grandma? Keys? Why me? How much does it cost? Answers struggle, disguised ignorance, “I don’t know why the sky is blue.” Because I said so. I do not know. Raise your hand up, child. Whom? From whence? Will that hurt? Good touch? Are you hiring? Just keep asking. Someone can answer you, Inquire within, two parts to this riddle. A dialogue is begun, how long? What happens now? Will she get out of this one unscathed? Keep asking, it makes you sound smarter. Then, later, give another what they are looking for. What time? Will you take this from me? Will I find out about alone? Can I kiss this part of you? Yes, no? Maybe.
