bruised butterfly (Free verse) by papercut
peeling the paper moon from the sky
I crumble you within my bare hands
cutting the tender spots on my skin
with the edges of your light
I throw you away... into the candle wax
picking the stars down from the sky
ice melts between my fingers
counting the salted tears I've cried
their bodies have stained my lips
the night mist hovers, draped in black and silver
whimpering beneath the wind of a butterfly's wing
bruised and torn to shreds. you nailed each one to the ground
licking the blood from her wounds
until her head hung over, her eyelids halfway closed
and you left her to die in love.
