Valentine (Free verse) by mikeyh53581
Love poems written hastily Disjointed thoughts Put into sentences And paragraphs Valentines Day Are these people really in love? When did they know? How? Why? Where? Pet names and silly disguises Of shared experiences Was Shakespeare ever this pathetic? Truly, Madly, and Deeply? Is that even possible In a world like ours? So far apart we drift Old lovers on a sea of new They meet in coffeehouses On the phone, or in bars Complete each other Only to find out later, they're wrong Different endings than imagined Lives changed For worse or better Just once, could it be better?
