Judgement (Free verse) by livingcanvas
I have waited my whole life for this. "I can't believe how long this line is." I whispered to the woman behind me. Progressively, I moved forward. Second in line, I could sense the anxiety of the man before me. His nerves controlled him. The tapping of his foot reminded me of the constant tick-tock on my old grandfather clock. In an instant, as if a flash of light, I felt the torturous presence of his predecessors, although they were gone, now he too had moved on. It was now my turn. I stood frozen. Former inhabitual constants such as breathing and blinking were suddenly the most of my struggles, and yet the least of my worries. My soul froze, wondering "Had I prepared myself?"
