Something in the way (Free verse) by nopal
Step by step, paw bye paw??? Carefully picking its way. Looks up and licks its small fangs. Yawns and bathes--- Tongue in, tongue out; Calmly opening its claws Licking in between, then yawning??? A bright pink tongue, And those big---yellow???eyes. Mellow: rubs against your leg Begging for company, And like a hipocrit---turns away. Tender, mellow, sweet, loving, Soft: you turn away: Emptiness???. I turn to those acid yellow eyes--- Soft black fur that tickles my tears, Soft black fur That tickles my chewed up heart.

Up the ladder: Oh Well III
Down the ladder: Stuck in the Past...
