Oh Well III (Free verse) by RWAndersen
This rhyme is for my dear Dad, The only one I've ever had. Oh well, what the hell, This ain't all I've got to tell. Sheriff came and Grandma cried, He led a group that stole a ride. Oh well, did the crime, Had no choice but do the time. Soon after I was given life, Separated from his wife. Oh well, made it right, He and Mom did reunite. He'd fight first, then sort it out. Then steer me to be a boy scout. Oh well, live and learn, Fed with bed, his main concern. Heard not Love, though it was felt, Was taught the job required his belt. Oh well, I'm not mad, Late in life, it made him sad. What I learned, made me bother, To become a better father. Oh well, I can tell, My own kids, he did excel. Raised me well, as I reflect, There to the end, did not neglect. Oh well, bless my luck, Had a Dad, who gave a fuck.
