Winter Rose (Free verse) by Brennan
A full moon glowing in the sky A looming crystal tear A heart that cries itself alone That's lying broken here A hand that cradles in its clasp Vermillion winter rose A man that lost a woman's love As wilted petal shows A passion flame that halted not Surpassing tricks and charms As lover's whims may lead astray To someone else's arms As couples bloom, come time to grow The change may tear apart And thorns upon a rose will prick Not peirce the skin, but break the heart

Down the ladder: His Mother's Son

Do I know you? Pierced is miss-spelled at end.

A bit cliched, but promising.
